1860 - Incorporate M.P. Church

CHAPTER 358.

AN ACT to incorporate the trustees of the Methodist Protestant Church, of New Market, and to vest the property now held by the congregation or church, in said trustees.

Passed March 10, 1860.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Jesse Wright, Abner C. Devilbiss, John Harding, George P. Kindley and Eli Davis, and their successors duly elected as hereinafter provided, be and they are hereby incorporated as a body politic, under the name of the Methodist Protestant Church, of New Market, with power to
sue and be sued, to make a common seal and to change the same, to pass by-laws, to elect officers, and to hold real estate not exceeding five thousand dollars in value, and to provide for the manner and time of the election of their successors, and the qualification of electors.

SECTION. 2. And be it enacted, That the church property in New Market, now held by, and for, and used by the said Methodist Protestant church, be and is hereby vested in the said trustees herein incorporated.
