Apparently a property tax reassessment took place before March of 1853. While the 1849, 1851, and 1852 lists reflect minor updates to amounts, the changes between the 1852 list and the March 1853 list are very dramatic. Over 20 new names were added and over 10 names were deleted. A second assessment list was prepared in July 1853. The second list appears to be an adjustment to the March 1853 list. Perhaps residents challenged the reassessed value of their property and some were successful in gaining adjustments.
