Hometown Pride Market & Deli

(Also known as Frampton's and Tolley's)

Nathaniel "Blunt" and Lee Frampton built "Frampton's" store in 1937.  They ran the store until 1966.  When the Frampton's retired in 1966, they sold the store to Junior Tolley who changed the name to Tolley's and ran the store until 1990.  After another change of ownership, the store is now operated by Donald Cheesman.  When the Frampton's operated the store, the main entrance was from Main Street.  Junior Tolley relocated the entrance of the store to face the municipal parking lot on Academy Street when the store was remodeled in the 1970s.

In 1877 this property was part of a bigger tract formerly owned by Thomas Helsby.  This Northwest Corner of Main Street was once the site of an old store house, a blacksmith shop, and a dwelling house.  The Helsby Dwelling stood at the location of the current Market & Deli property.  The dwelling was a small 1 1/2 story structure with a tin roof.  The rear part of the structure included a porch with a 1 story shingle roof.  The dwelling was still at this location in 1922, but was torn down before 1935.  James Cheesman (b. 1895) stated that there was a house on this lot that was torn down.

A structure known as Helsby's Corner Store and later Trinity Hall was erected in 1882.  The structure was torn down around 1970, and the land became a municipal parking lot which is now used by the Market & Deli.  A building that may have once been the Blacksmith Shop also stands between the Market & Deli and the Willoughby Funeral Home.  This shop is back from the road next to the south end of the old Willoughby Casket Manufacturing building.

A sizable residence occupies the second story of the store property.  The address of this residence is 102 Main Street.
