Key date analysis:

An East New Market item in the Cambridge Chronicle from 1882 states that "a handsome residence is being built for Mr. Jacob Andrews".   The 1877 map does not show a structure at this location.  In 1885, the lot was described as the premises now occupied by Clementine Andrew and Jacob H. Andrew.

78 RSM 219 - 20 May 1952 - Steve Katinsky & Anna Katinsky, his wife, to H. Webster Blake & Rebecca M. Blake, his wife, for $5:  lot on the northwest side of Main Street in East New Market.  Beginning at the northwest corner at a point 15 feet from the center of said road opposite a stone on the inside of the pavement, and at the southeast corner of the property of John E. Patten, thence with the said John E. Patten lot and the land of William T. Hubbard, N70/45W 308.5 feet to a granite marker; thence with the land of the said William T. Hubbard,, S4W 29 feet to a granite marker; thence S8/30E 296 feet to a granite marker on the west side of the aforesaid State Road; and thence running and binding northwesterly and on the westward side of the State Road to the place of beginning.  Said courses and distances being taken from a certificate of survey made by John C. Fisher, Surveyor, and dated 14 May 1946.  Saving and excepting those two lots which were conveyed by the grantors as follows:  (1) To Norman H. Pennypacker and wife by deed dated 8 November 1947 in 64 RSM 457, said lot fronting 65 feet on said street and running back for a depth of 150 feet.  (2) To Stuart E. Woodward and wife, by deed dated 26 July 1948 in 66 RSM 487, said lot fronting 70 feet on said street and running back for a depth of 150 feet.  The land above with above noted exceptions which was conveyed unto the said Steve Katinsky & Anna Katinsky, his wife, by T. Willis Smith & Katherine W. Smith, his wife, by deed 15 October 1946 in 59 RSM 692.

Smith, his wife, to Steve Katinsky & Anna Katinsky, his wife, for $5:  lot on the west side of Main Street in the town of East New Market.  Beginning at the northeast corner at a point 15 feet from the center of said road opposite a stone on the inside of the pavement, and at the southeast corner of the property of John E. [described as above].  The land to be conveyed was devised unto the said Thomas H. Andrew by the Last Will and Testament of Gertrude H. Andrew, deceased, recorded 18 January 1944 in 5 RPS 264.  Said land also being a part of the land which was conveyed unto the said Gertrude H. Andrew by William J. Hopkins, assignee, by deed dated 1 December 1894 in 18 CL 697, being part of the land described as Lots Nos. 1 and 2.

18 CL 697 - 1 December 1894 - William J. Hopkins, assignee, to Gertrude H. Andrew for $1130:  Sale made in compliance with the terms of a mortgage from Clementine Andrew & Jacob Andrew, her husband, to the Choptank Savings Bank, which mortgage was dated 14 April 1885 in 7 CL 176.  A part of the mortgage was assigned to William J. Hopkins on 27 February 1894.  Ratified by the Circuit Court by order filed in 1855 Chancery.  Lot No. 1 on the west side of Main Street in the town of East New Market opposite the Methodist Episcopal Church, beginning at a stone set down on the west side of said Main Street and running N71.5W 11 perches and 4 links to another stone at the intersection of this line with the line of the lands of the heirs of Jeffrey Stanley and which the said Clementine Andrew purchased of J. Alfred Hughes, Trustee, and described hereinafter as Lot No. 2 in this mortgage, thence S3W 15 perches 12 links to another stone on the county road leading from East New Market to Cambridge, thence N74.5E 7? perches, 19 links, thence N52.5E 2 perches 22 links, thence in a straight line to the place of beginning.  Containing 3/4 of an acre..  Lot No. 2 was sold to the said Clementine Andrew by J. Alfred Hughes, Trustee for the sale of the real estate of Jeffrey Stanley, deceased, by a decree of the Circuit Court in No 1186 Chancery.  Situated on the north side of the road leading from East New Market to Cambridge.  This being the same property described in the mortgage above.

Andrew & Clementine Andrew, his wife, for $1375:  Secured by land in East New Market.  Lot No 1 on the west side of the main street nearly opposite the Methodist Episcopal Church.  Beginning at a stone set down on the west side of said Main Street and running thence  N71.5W 11 perches 4 links to another stone at the intersection of this line with the line of the lands of the heirs of Jeffery Stanley and which the said Clementine Andrew purchased of J. Alfred Hughes, Trustee and described herein as Lot No 2, thence S3W 15 perches, 12 links to another stone on the county road from East New Market to Cambridge, thence N74.5E 7 perches 19 links, thence N52.5E 2 perches 22 links, thence in a straight line to the place of beginning.  Containing 3/4 of an acre.  Being the premises now occupied by the mortgagers.  Lot No 2 which was sold to the said Clementine Andrew by J. Alfred Hughes, Trustee for the sale of the real estate of Jeffrey Stanly, deceased, under decree of the Circuit Court 1186 Chancery.  Situated on the north side of the road leading into East New Market from Cambridge adjoining the lands of Dr. Henry W. Houston, Charles Hughes, and the first hereinbefore described premises, containing 20 acres of land more or less.  Being the property owned and occupied for many years by Jeffry Stanley.

Church.  Beginning at a stone set down on the west side of the main street and running thence N71.5W 11 perches 5 links to a stone at the intersection of this line and the lines of the lands of Jeffry Stanley's heirs, thence S3W 15 perches, 12 links to a stone on the road from East New Market to Cambridge, thence N74.5E 7 perches, 19 links, thence N52.5E 2 perches 22 links, thence in a straight line to the place of beginning.  Containing 3/4 of an acre.

8 FJH 255 – 28 August 1871 – Samuel E Collins and Gulia W, his wife to Henry W. Houston for $100:  lot in East New Market beginning at Maple tree standing on the footway of the main street, thence to the Methodist E. Church, thence running right angles with the said main street to the line between Jeffrey Standly and the said Henry W. Houston, then with said line to the county road leading from East New Market to Cambridge.

4 FJH 525 – 30 November 1859 – Henry W Houston and Tripphenia M, his wife to Samuel E Collins for $100: lot in East New Market on Main Street beginning at a Maple tree standing on the footway of the Main Street, being the first tree on the said foot way next to the Methodist E. Church thence running at right angles with the said main street to the line between Jeffrey Standley and the land of Henry W Houston, then with the said line to the County Road leading from East New Market to Cambridge, then with said Road & Street back to the place of beginning.
